RED One Camera Hire

Why shoot RED?

Well, quite simply, the images are stunning. You get the quality of shooting 35mm but at a fraction of the cost: No stock costs, no processing, no one-light telecine.

Here's some technical info. Please note that this information is correct at time of writing, but the specs on the camera keep improving.

4K resolution

The RED One has a native sensor resolution of 12 Megapixels, or 4520 (h) x 2540(v). This gives you resolution to burn, allowing you the benefits of oversampling and room to reframe.

Super 35mm sensor size

The RED One's sensor size is 24.4mm x 13.7mm, the same size as a super 35mm film negative. This means that you get the full benefits of cinematic depth of field with regular 35mm PL mount lenses. You do not need to use a 35mm adapter to achieve this as is the case of many other HD cameras.

Superior Image Quality

What is it that makes the RED One's images so good?

  • High Dynamic range: approx 11.5 stops
  • Low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR): >66dB
  • Smooth highlight roll-off. No nasty 'video' clipping
  • No ugly in-camera sharpening for a smooth film-like image.
  • Low digital grain - fantastic for green screen work.

Varispeed Options

The RED One provides many varispeed options:

Resolution Frame Rate (RED RAID) Frame Rate (Compact Flash)
